First day of Book Club! We will take an hour to read our books independently before discussing, in French, what we read ! A moment to disconnect and dedicate some time for reading.

Back again for our weekly Video Club ! This week, we watched the short film "Les Misérables" by Ladj Ly, which was also adapted as a long format film in 2019, gaining high acclaim. Students discussed police violence, l'état d'urgence, and criminality. Students shared personal experiences, historical references, and observations they have made during their […]
This week, we watched the short animation "Gigi" by Cynthia Calvi, following the interests of our students in experimental and queer films. The animation is narrated by Calvi, where she discusses and describes her young life navigating her trans identity. Students compared this animation to the first animation we saw, "Les belles cicatrices," for its […]
Under the warm autumn sun, we strolled over to our local park, the humble Jardin du Luxembourg, for a game of pétanque. Students learned the rules of the classic and very popular French game, quickly becoming new fans, as passersby admired our growing skill and playful energy.
Every semester, we take a weekend trip to visit another region in France. This past weekend, we took the train to Épernay in the Champagne region where we visited the Mercier cellars, their vineyards, and of course tasted some champagne. After an afternoon under the Épernay sun, we took the next train for Reims, where […]
This week, we watched the short Adieu Émile by Alexis Diop.
This week, we watched the short Playing God by Matteo Burani to get us in the spooky season mood! As always, we share a warm drink, some snacks, and a casual conversation about the short of the week.
This week, students are on fall break. While CUPA stays open to prepare for the second half of the semester and the incoming Spring cohort, students are traveling, resting, and taking time for themselves !
This week, we watched the short film Plaisir by Molly Gillis.
Every semester we host an evening where we invite French students, former CUPA students currently living in Paris, friends, and host siblings to meet and mingle with our current students. This semester, we prepared an apéro full of cheese and charcuterie, bread and wine, and some games with music and ridiculous prizes !
