With ongoing academic advising and support, students are directly matriculated in Parisian Universities, certain Grandes Écoles and specialized institutes, and may also opt for one or two optional in-house courses. They select from the extensive course offerings available at institutions listed below, and may also engage in independent study projects, if approved by their home university, or develop a more specialized program of study or pursue advanced studies in music or theater. For more information, see the Research and Special Curricula section of this site.
Michael Brodek, Bard College — I think my most valuable experience was seeing the differences between education in the universities I attended here and Bard which, in retrospect, will certainly allow me to gain more from my final year of undergraduate education and beyond.
Academic advising takes into account the student’s level of fluency, academic background, special interests, and strengths. Students generally take four courses per semester, each carrying a credit recommendation for a full semester. In order to facilitate course selection, offerings are organized into bulletins and supplemented with descriptions and evaluations of courses taken by previous CUPA students. Sample curricula of former students can be found under the Course Selection Process section of this site. Final course selection takes place during Orientation.
Emily Morin, Providence College — I have perceived the CUPA staff members to be very efficient and helpful regarding academic procedures, flexible about appointments and deadlines, and always willing to help me find solutions to small problems that have come up during the semester.
CUPA has formal exchange agreements with the following universities: Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris-Sorbonne, Paris 8-Saint Denis, Paris Ouest Nanterre – La Défense and Paris-Dauphine and INALCO.
