CUPA, The Center for University Programs Abroad is one of the oldest independently-run study abroad programs in Paris. Since its inception over 50 years ago in 1963 as COUP, – Center for Overseas Undergraduate Programs, it has been committed to helping American students pursue challenging and individualized programs of study in a completely immersive environment.
From the start, CUPA’s mission has been to give students as close to an authentic Parisian academic experience as possible, while offering a welcoming program center and the invaluable support and guidance lacking in traditional direct-matriculation into the Paris universities. As a relatively small program with a high staff-to-student ratio, CUPA is able to continuously evolve to meet the needs of the high-caliber students who choose the program each semester.
In 2010, CUPA joined forces with Paris College of Art (PCA). This partnership has benefited students by giving them access to internship and research opportunities that are unavailable to other study abroad students. Other new avenues such as CUPA’s Summer session, the intensive Methodology seminar during orientation, and an exclusive individualized French Language Support program are the most recent developments in CUPA’s ever-evolving history of excellence in study abroad.
