About CUPA Art
In addition to CUPA’s immersion program for high-caliber students with advanced French wishing to be enrolled in courses directly at French universities, CUPA now offers a new program track, CUPA Art in partnership with Paris College of Art, a NASAD accredited institution of art and design.
CUPA-Art offers students the opportunity to pursue a full-time tailor-made program of study in the arts that corresponds to their academic requirements and personal and artistic interests.
A rigorous and stimulating curriculum
Students choose courses from the following areas of Study: Art History, Theory, and Criticism | Communication Design | Liberal Studies | Design Management | Fashion Design | Fine Arts | Illustration | Interior Design | Photography. All courses are conducted in English.
A full cultural program
A number of extracurricular, optional activities are organized such as wine tasting, a day trip (for example Giverny or Fontainebleau), visits to key areas of Paris, and tickets to performances (dance, music ). Students also receive an ID card providing free access to national museums both in and outside of Paris, and numerous student discounts.
The Paris Inside/Out Practicum
All semester and year students are enrolled in Paris Inside/Out. This one-credit course initiates students to Paris’ thriving contemporary gallery scene, providing backstage access to the city’s art and design community through excursions and guided visits to art exhibits and design workshops throughout Paris. Students visit places such as the Hotel Martin Margiela, Prada 24 hour Museum, Foundation Louis Vuitton, the Museum Ateliers and La Maison Rouge.
Opportunity to exhibit in a Parisian gallery
Semester and year students curate an exhibition of their work held in a professional gallery. Organizing the show with the support of the school staff, students learn how to create an exhibition and sell their artwork as well as gain an important addition to their professional CV.
Students may opt for a homestay in a French family (single room, 5 evening meals and all breakfasts, close contact with the French culture) or may seek their own housing.
Students have the opportunity to acquire international work experience. Access to extensive studio facilities
Computer labs, fashion ateliers, printmaking studio, digital and wet photography labs, and a sculpture studio for work in wood, metal, clay and more.
Personal and Academic Support
Students benefit from on-going academic advising and receive extensive practical and academic support both pre-departure and throughout the semester, year or summer term..
An in-depth orientation program
An in-depth orientation program helps students to get settled in Paris and includes academic advising, meetings about cultural differences, practical aspects of life in Paris, safety and security, and life in a French family.
French Language Courses
A selection of both thematic and competence based French Language courses are offered. All students must pursue the study of the host language during their time in Paris and may also benefit from individualized language tutoring.
